Description
The Global Community of Practice provides an opportunity for professionals and practitioners in biblical trauma care to join hands to increase effectiveness. This year’s COP focuses on the theme of power in trauma and healing. The keynote address explores the abuse of power, both in subtle and blatant forms. The theme is then developed by looking at power in different cultural contexts, the power of Trauma Healing facilitators, empowering the disempowered, and a case study of the abuse and good use of power in Rwanda. Other topics include sustainable trauma healing programs, with grassroots input from West Africa, contextualizing the Trauma Healing Institute program model, especially for those of other faith traditions, and the facilitator mentoring process. And, as always, the program includes progress-to-date, Trauma Healing newsbytes from around the world, orientation track for newcomers, and a discussion of successes and challenges. Each day includes art exercises so we can digest all these inputs and at the same time increase our skills in this area. One evening includes premier screening of the new Trauma Healing documentary on race in the US, Unchained: Generational Trauma and Healing.
Advisory Council members will meet Thursday night and Friday, March 17th.
